$TMOUT  –  Idle prompt timeout

$TMOUT defines when an ALRM signal is sent for an idle prompt. If $TMOUT is non-zero then it defines the seconds when an alarm signal is raised for an idle prompt. The shell will terminate if there’s no trap set for the signal.
